Snowmobiling hurts park

In the words of the great communicator Ronald Reagan, “there you go again,” in regards to Geauga Park District Director John Oros and the Grendell  park administration  allowing snowmobiling in Observatory Park again this winter.

Last year it was allowed on a temporary, experimental basis without serious discussion and an OK from the park commissioners. How long must this go on before the park commissioners sanction this activity as appropriate or deem it inappropriate?

This snowmobiling apparently will be allowed as long as the park is open as seems to be indicated on the park website. Snowmobiling after dark could well cause the park district’s Observatory Park to lose its coveted designation as a  World Heritage Dark Sky site.

Just another example of a park administration that shoots from the hip without thinking things out or caring about the outcome.

Too bad.
