Podojil Resigns from Russell Township Park Board

Roy Podojil resigned from the Russell Park District commission on Feb. 3 after serving 15 years.

His action came after Geauga County Probate Court Judge Timothy Grendell decided not to reappoint commissioner Terry Ries, who had served more than 20 years on the board and whose three-year term had expired this past December.

Mr. Podojil, who was first appointed to the board in 2000, resigned in the second year of his three-year term.

With Mr. Podojil’s resignation, two of the three long-time serving board members are gone in a month’s time. The third member, Sanford Siegler, has served 28 years on the commission. His term expires in December of 2017.

As long as he is serving on the court, Judge Grendell said, he will not let park commissioners serve more than six or nine years, which is two or three terms.

    • Sorry, Katherine, but posting the entire article creates a copyright violation. We don’t need the job of going back to day-1 to modify or delete posts that were added to our site without respect for the intellectual property rights of the original authors and publishers.

      Additionally, it would be a good thing if more Geauga County residents started reading the few local news outlets that we have (and their subscription rates are quite reasonable).

  2. This is a sad day for the Russell Township parks. We have now lost 2 of 3 competent, hardworking and devoted Commissioners because of Judge Grendell.
